World and Dakar Rally Co-driver Michael Orr talks us through his career in both the World Rally Championship and Cross-Country Rallying where his ultimate aim is to win the Dakar Rally.
Michael Orr is a professional Rally Co-driver who has competed on 143 rounds of the World Rally Championship over a 27-year period with a lot of success. He recently made the switch to take on the challenge of cross-country rallying, with the ultimate aim of winning the Dakar Rally.
In this show, he describes how he honed his skills as a rally navigator around the country lanes of his native Northern Ireland, before moving to England to pursue his professional career.
Michael provides a fascinating insight into the huge challenges he took on in learning the new skills of competing on Rally Raid events. He describes how incredibly challenging an event like the Dakar Rally really is and finishes off by offering some great advice for anyone wanting to follow in his footsteps.
